I saw it when the episode aired. This was perfect in its simplistic demonstration of how far out of whack religion and politics truly are in this country.
This in many ways goes to the core of the very issue that atheists have with religion: they're never happy with concessions, and are convinced their way is the only way. And that would be just fine if that position was only held by theist with no political sway but the whole of the Republican Party has for many years now been victim to this madness.
Fascinating that in all of the rambling yet again about a war on religion that a bunch of men are making decisions about things they will never have to endure. It's so very bizarre in its complete ineptitude.
