I believe that the problem lies in that these organizations are allowed to receive federal funding when they are, at the same time, being run by the church. If the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) is so offended by the regulations that the U.S. federal government is imposing on them, then RCC should stop allowing their hospitals to accept the federal funding, and finance the hospitals directly.
On the other hand, if the hospitals would like to continue to receive federal funding, then they should stop forcing their religious beliefs on patients at their mercy.
