← A brutal price still paid for daring to challenge faith

I don't know how Richard stands all this abuse. It must be thoroughly dispiriting at times.

Time for two very apt quotes from Bertrand Russell, thanks to the website -Positive Atheism's Big List:

The degree of one's emotion varies inversely with one's knowledge of the facts -- the less you know the hotter you get.

[-- Bertrand Russell (attributed: source unknown)]

The most savage controversies are those about matters as to which there is no good evidence either way. Persecution is used in theology, not in arithmetic.

[-- Bertrand Russell, Unpopular Essays, "An Outline of Intellectual Rubbish" (1950), quoted from James A Haught, ed, 2000 Years of Disbelief]

Please be reminded, Richard, that there are a great many people supporting you. I count myself as one of those who have actually read and appreciated with gratitude all of your books. For me, the God Delusion was a delightful surprise addition to the canon, but not your defining work.

Don’t let the bastards grind you down!
