Your last sentence, aroundtown, reminds me of the famous religous idea: The Devil's greatest trick was making people believe he didn't exist.
Think on that for a moment... let it percolate. Now, is that a true sentence? As far as I can see the answer is NO. Ever since the idea of Satan came about people have heard no end of it. Devils, demons, spirits, whathaveyou, are here to stay because the church isn't going to let it go into obscurity. Why? It's a TOOL. One more way hold sway over the people, keep them coming back for more.
How easily are we deceived? Very easily, unfortunately. :P
