I personally believe there's an absolute abundance of life out there. Even intelligent. Given that there are ~200-400 billion stars in our galaxy alone, with at least 50 billion planets, of which 10 billion are in a habitable zone from its star, I'd find it immensely unlikely we are such a rare event. Add to that that there are probably more than 200 billion galaxies.
I have little personal wish either way, but I find it unfathomably unlikely there is no life elsewhere.
