In the long term these (alternative medicine users) will have self selected for early death unless they use the real stuff when they get sick. They will not be missed in terms of evolution however it is a long game and is a worrying development. Here in UK they are flourishing and the level of concern is not high enough yet but then placebos work for the not very ill with real diseases.
