Another annoying habit of teenage and 20-something women in the States is to end every sentence as if it were a question. My girlfriend's (girl? she's 59!) daughter was afflicted with this when we first met and it was like chalk on a blackboard to me. As a consequence her daughter and I still don't talk much to each other even though she's gotten over it. Unfortunately she has replaced her (San Fernando) Valley-girl accent with the even more irritating habit of nonstop texting when other people are trying to talk to her. I don't think we'll ever be BFFs, in a manner of speaking.
