I think the reason (possibly) he left a bad taste in the mouths of many people here is because he has taken the position that is so obvious. It's a very simple idea but a crucial one.
There are good methods in determining what's true and bad methods.
This is the beginning of the discussion for most of us. What seems obvious doesn't have a real foothold in general thinking. So, it needs to be said again and again. Somebody has to say it again and again and to the public.
The rest of the discussion can't proceed without blurting out the first thing and focusing on it.
It's not that simple. But thinking must begin there.
It's like tuning your instrument, if you claim to be able to compose symphonies.
