Huh. Well... when I was a kid, I remember noticing how tigers, lions, cougars, leopards, jaguars, housecats were similar. Dogs, jackals, coyotes, wolves, foxes. Deer, moose, elk, caribou, antelope. It therefore struck me as blatantly obvious --and wonderful!-- that in our case we were clearly related to chimpanzees, gorillas, orangutans, gibbons, etc.
How someone like Kohlmayor can fail to see that is appalling. It conjures the image of a primate with its hands over its eyes: "See No Evil." Sigh....
I will admit, however, that there have been many times when I wish our species had evolved with wings. There is something about watching a hawk soaring on an updraft that inspires both awe and envy.
