This seems like the result of being not only a deep thinker but also someone who has to confront their religion head on because it's everything you do and cannot continue to do in good conscience.
There must be millions more who because they did not choose to become a working member of the church have never had to confront their faith in such a critical way and as such remain "religious" by passive (unthinking) participation.
