I am the author of the new book on adoption called " The Legacies of Trees". Adoption of Abduction is a very real story and I have heard about this for many years. The shame, stigma and secrecy of adoption comes from the belief they were saving the child from the slur of illegitimacy. The sealing of records is a short lived bad practice fueled by the desire of security by pre adoptive parents. Big money went into changing these laws and 46 states do not allow adoptees to have access to their own real birth certificate.

This is only the tip of the iceberg there is a whole generation of stolen people born after the baby scoop era. I have been a search angel since 1996 and the overwhelming majority of birth mothers do not want to remain unknown to their adopted children.
