I'm about halfway through Faircloth's book, and he argues brilliantly for authentic reasonable compassion, while exposing the immorality of fundamentalism. It's a moral argument as well as a rational argument.

So we not only win on intellectual grounds, but also on moral grounds. If reason doesn't persuade, then appealing to an innate sense of compassion can.

People may not be so passionate about reason, but morality makes ordinary people passionate and politically engaged.

So I think it's the right strategy to take. I hope more people read Faircloth's book and support him.
