Yes, I think it has been so far, though it does seem to be hotting up now (pun intended). The descriptions I've been seeing seem to suggest that there have been some very big explosions indeed, felt quite some distance away on the Italian mainland. And there was a stunning image on the webcam ten minutes or so again, clearly of a major explosion of gas, even though there didn't appear to be any lava as yet. Things are definitely picking up!
