Actually, I am really expecting Vatican's rational response to this outrageous and embarrassing situation.
They would certainly gain points by doing so and show themselves as "sophisticated" and having a capacity for great scrutiny and high standards for discerning "real" "miracles".
That's certainly how they've worked so far.
