← We Connect with Ask An Atheist - Episode 58

I have listened to this podcast a couple of times on the road back from attending the convention. It is still very powerful for me and I was glad to hear the comments from the other former preachers who were standing on the side of the room at the time. Teresa did not give a technical explanation why she logically concluded that her religious job was bogus, she just simply told us that she was sorry for being wrong about us. I think the reaction may have been partly driven by how unexpected that was. So many of us carry a deep hurt from how we were told that we were "evil" from childhood. Yes, we intellectually know that is all bunk, but that knowledge only reaches down to the most superficial levels of emotion. Teresa took it all the way, and that made the difference.

To the extent you can do so, (I know it is difficult) I urge all of you to get as many of your friends and family to listen to Teresa's original "coming out" and this follow-up podcast. We need our faith-based friends to realize that some number of pastors are non-believers, and to get them to understand, why.
