Are you saying Jon Stewart does understand how science works? What do you base this on? Your impression of his character, perhaps?
Why does it bother you when people try to avoid misunderstanding of science, in a humorous context or otherwise? Comedy isn't a free pass to do or say anything unchallenged, though I appreciate some right wingers treat it that way: "Black men are coming for your white women!" ... "Only joking! Ha ha."
