It's all about money; stupid people can't fight against polluting industrial processes etc. There's plenty of prostitutes, politicians to you and me, willing to take a buck now and screw tomorrow. The more stupid people the system can breed, the less likely this is to change. As long as we elect trash in the rapidly fading democracies this situation is only going to get worse.
