The Mayans believed they were at the middle of time since the creation of the world, hence why the calendar ends when it dose.
So with our knowledge today, they would have created a calendar that would put the end of time some 13.6 billion years from now.
Our Sun will dictate when the world ends, but this is not to say life on earth will not end sooner!
