Attack of the Theocrats!
I'm getting really fed up with all these disgusting things protected by the warped idea of religious freedom.
Just as the concept of natural doesn't necessarily healthy, neither does the concept of freedom necessarily mean good. However, in politics and especially in the US, the word "freedom" always seems to equated with something ultimately positive.
So, the US politics reveres the freedom to discriminate against women and homosexuals, freedom to bully other kids at school, freedom to carry lethal weapons, freedom to shoot unarmed kids if you don't like the way they look, freedom to invent your own facts and teach, publish or broadcast them without any legal consequence. Not to mention the divine American freedom to invade any country the current government sees profitable (I wonder if the next republican president realizes the ungodly Norway has a huge oil reserve and a weak military).
Why isn't human sacrifice protected under the blanket of "religious freedom"? Or is it? You can never tell about the US.
