Comment 29 by sheepcat- "The WORST thing you can ever tell your kids is that sex and love are two halves of the same thing, utter rubbish." There are lots of kinds of love and one type of love is very definitely tied directly to sex. If you're of the mind that monogamy makes you feel comfortable (I'm kind of like that), then it feels very natural to closely connect love and sex together as one.
But a couple has to be wise enough to know that if one of them wants out, sex can't be used as a tool. That's easily done if both people know that sex is not "sacred" and it is not "shameful" to have sex with other people- either monogamously or manygamously (yup- just made that one up!).
