← Military Proselytizing by the Gideons – and how we stopped it.

Good work. I went through this 40 some years ago and when I tossed the gideon bible in the trash I got yelled at by some NCO. Being a new recruit is a bit intimidating, so it's a bit difficult to stand up for yourself. Years later, as a senior NCO they tried to make me go to a mandatory lecture by some xian group. I asked if they were christian, they said yes, I got up to leave and was told I wasn't allowed to. I replied, try to stop me and left. After that, all but 2 or 3 of the audience followed me out. Sweet revenge.

As far as the "kill 'em all and let god sort 'em out", that's not limited to the Marines, the army uses it also. It's really not a religious statement, more of a macho thing.
