Great news! I joined the Navy in 1964 and don't recall any active, or even passive proselytization going on. Of course I was still nominally Christian at the time so it might not have appeared on my RADAR. However, since I was a member of the Naval Training Center chorus, I was required to be part of the choir at one of the chapels three Sundays out of four, but that was a lot better than going to slave in the galley (chow hall) at o'dark thirty. My grandson who just completed four years with the Marines wasn't subjected to aggressive xian nonsense but it was around.
