I'm not convinced it's as simple as finding a "cure" for autism. Just a brief glance at the wikipedia entry on the heritability of autism (autism wiki ) indicates its a multi faceted problem, which could involve genes from all human chromosomes - and has high heritability. It's not going to be a single treatable disorder a la phenylketonuria, there's someway to go yet.
