← Should Depressed People Avoid Having Children?

VrijVlinder's Avatar Jump to comment 17 by VrijVlinder

I think certain disorders that can be proven to be inherited should be a good reason to avoid perpetuating the disease.

Knowing risk factors is important in making this decision. I would be discouraged even with low percentages.

Diabetes is one good reason to not have children, so is ALS and multiple sclerosis, Hotchkins lymphoma etc. Until we can clean up those genes from the gene pool, people should be responsible about procreation. It is the least selfish thing to do.

Since it is unethical to force people to do this , it should be encouraged to voluntarily abstain. I have.
