Some folk report that the softly-softly approach had not effect on them. It was only when they were goaded by ridicule and relentless logical factual questions they felt the need to respond with justifications for their beliefs. It is at this stage that they finally realise that that they have been lied-to, defrauded, parasitised and shamelessly used by church heirarchy.

I regularly hear that relentless ridicule was the initial trigger that led the meme-bot to abandoning the infantile notion of a sky-daddy, through them actually needing a cogent rebuttal to the opposition. Without this strong pressure, they felt no need to rebut using their own evidence.

Maybe it is an Australian thing. I don't know.
