The trouble is that they do want to learn. They just have a natural tendency to trust the information given to them by the people who raise them. So, it's not so simple. There's a lot of emotional difficulty involved here for these children.
They're children. They did not create the mess. But they're deeply invested in it.
They should be getting the facts at school and that's all there is to it.
But for a teacher, it's not so simple. Teachers are not just fact distributors.
