Attack of the Theocrats!
The intellectual choice of having a child is the remit of the mid-career middle classes. This is not the usual way babies are produced. The majority of pregnancies are in younger women born of spur of the moment lust in various types of relationships or from uneducated/religious ignorance.
The luxury of having planned pregnancies is only a result of someone having dodged those circumstantial bullets over the years. i.e. you've been very careful, protected, educated or lucky. None of which are a given for every person, which is why this type of topic is irritating for those whose children were not planned. It's very hard to put a wise head on hormone-raging young shoulders.
(p.s. my wife has bi-polar disorder and my son has autism, neither of which were planned for either.)
