If the story about Mississippi had not been headed "Laughing in Purgatory" would you have guessed? I think I would, but I would probably have bothered to check.

I'm sorry to say I actually fell for it for a while, not having been acquainted with "Laughing in Purgatory" before. I checked the Oklahoma article, though, and was horrified that someone had actually considered something like this in real life.

It becomes harder and harder to distinguish satire from reality.

You know you're in big trouble when this happens. Poe's Law hits hard at any optimistic assumptions you make about certain people.
