The type of immortality you describe makes me wonder which children exactly you are talking about? Your kids as they are now? As they were born? As they will be in 50 years? Which would you be expecting to meet in heaven? And why should you be privileged to determine the age / state they will be locked in forever? What if your children prefered to go to heaven at old age together with their kids?
In my opinion it's key to understand that your topic is not really about your loved ones - it's about your sadness, which exists in your life now. This sadness won't be there anymore when you are dead, however. Your sadness will be gone forever, which - in a sense - is kind of the eternity you want to achieve.
