It depends on the person, if they are willing to have a constructive debate, and listen.
More and more, it seems, religious people are ignoring the arguments, and just quoting Psalm 14:1-3 - and ignoring any other arguments. (a fool in his heart says their is no god.) Which may be both a positive and negative sign - ie they know the bible and faith do not stand up to reason. But they just ignore that little fact. What happens next is dependent on the person, how nigglingly the thought that they cannot merge reason and religion. People who are taught reasoning skills think they ought to understand, while those untrained, will give up as conditioned to do.
