Gays in the military
I was reading the local paper today and there was an article about a Senator's view on gays in the military (United States). His opinion is not germane to what I'd like to discuss. What is germane is a quote from an actual US Marine. Here it is:
"He was big and mean. He did his job and killed a whole lot of bad guys. He was gay. No one cared."
Does any one really care?
I would think that being a homosexual man (or woman) and completing the grueling training with the added stress of "the others" finding out or hazing you or ostracizing you.... arguably makes you a tougher marine. Any thoughts?
