Religion and Education in Texas

Please see the article linked here. I was disturbed when I read about the law requiring textbooks to be edited to take out any "anti-Christian" bias. What does that mean? I thought our Governments are supposed to stay out of religion. I also thought we are trying to educate our kids. Do we do this by sanitizing history?
