That white outfit would get rather dirty if stranded on an island

Wagner's Ring cycle is long enough (14 hours) not to get repetitive easily. Any pop song listened to >100 times in quick succession gets stale.

Object: Wikipedia.

I would want long player vinyl discs, as they could be used as the waterproof roof of a shelter. My books would be two very large encyclopaedias, which could then be used as walls.

My luxury would be a bible with very soft paper.

I am notoriously unable to answer these types of questions; except, I suppose, in exactly that manner.

Hr hr hr.

And if you only use it on Sundays, it'll even last about 25 years.

Hell Steve, we can chuck in a tarpaulin with bamboos for support, to save your LPs and books. Wouldn't you want a fly swat? I would! Remember Joanna Lumley on her desert island a few years back? Bitten to pieces!

I'd like to know what Richard answered when asked if he wanted to take a Bible.

My guess would be that he would not want sacrifice a whole other actually good book for that. There are so many great writings out there, why of all take a bible...

I think he would be happy it bring it, as long as it was the King James version.

Song of Solomon 2:12:

The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land.

I think the rules of Desert Island Disk should be changed so that people are made to take the items they'd least want.

In that context I'd leave Dawkins on the island with the collected works of Russ Taff, a large selection of Papal Videos from Catholic Life, a lifetime subscription ( to be dropped in by air mail ) to the works of Mary Midgley, and a single video cassette with every single Bill O'Reilly utterance.

Enjoy !

Surely if you are a man, and to be stranded alone you would want one of those rubber vaginas rather than a drum kit?

1) Beethoven's late string quartets. If only one then the C# minor quartet.

2) Bach B minor mass.

3) Pet Sounds, by the Beach Boys

But it's sometimes better to make your own music, so for me a clavichord and a copy of The Well Tempered Clavier.

I''d want my guitar and amp. Since there's probably no electricity to power my amp, how bout a few thousand bibles and a portable trash-to-steam incinerator/generator.

Am I allowed an ipod full of music, audio books and constantly updating pod-casts?? 100,000 songs, 1000 books and weekly pod-casts would make life very pleasant.

I'd like to take someone a little younger that Joanna, apparently Rihanna comes with her own whips and chains.

Blue Nile - The Downtown Lights. Microdisney - Are you happy. Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures.
If forced to take an artefact with religious symbolism then something by The Jesus and Mary Chain would do the trick.
