Bus subsidy to be cut for faith schools
It seems a little row has brewed up in a part of SW England, because Torbay council has decided to cut its bus subsidies for pupils who attend faith schools. Apparently some of these children are bussed miles across town in order to reach the school of their or their parents' choice, but in today's economic climate the Council wish to cut this subsidy.
Parents are not amused.
According to radio interviews I heard today children who attend "regular" schools do not get any subsidy. None of the faith school parents find this odd.
Why should faith schools have ever been subsidized in the first place?
