Dear brothers and sisters,

I am former Muslim living in the middle east and have been an active reader of Dawkins and other like minded scientists for a few years now.

I started questioning my "faith" around the age of 18 and by 20 became a non-believer. Family upbringing and peer pressure silenced me for years from saying what I thought or felt while having doubts, as many Muslims do not take kindly to open criticism or questioning of their religion.

I do not know of any other people like me. I'm sure there are but that they find it hard to express themselves in a land where freedom of speech is looked down upon.

Are there any other people here who have left Islam and find it difficult on a day to day basis?
