Go to: How do I define my religious beliefs when asked?

You could go with secular humanist, I suppose.

Much like JackR, I'm tired of discussing terminology. I find it as pointless as trying to find a positive words for not having brothers (certainly you don't consider "single child" positive). I just try to make it as simple as possible. I'm pretty sure anyone who would ask that question would know what an atheist is, end of story. If they have a negative view of atheists in general the best I can do is try to give a positive image.

Go to: Translations of my books

As a translation student, I understand why such bad translations exist. Simply put, the translator doesn't understand the topic in question (I find most translators don't really like science), while at the same time it's dificult (and somewhat unnecessary) to find a specialist to translate a book for the layman.

What I'd recomend is trying to find a fan of your work who is a translator. That way they would be more motivated to do a good job, rather than doing something fast in order to get paid, and they would grasp the meaning better than somebody else.

Since I'm also Portuguese, I am quite interested in knowing which and where this school is. It is true that unfortunately faith and unscientific mindset are quite comon here....

Go to: Protest the Pope Slogans - Barcelona

We also had the same problem when he came to Portugal.

Perhaps slogans that can only be understood in Spanish would be more effective. One slogan that was discussed here was:

"Com papas e bolos se enganam os tolos"

Which literally should be something like "With food and cakes the fools are fooled"

But the word "papas" also means popes, so it could be read as:

" With popes and cake, the fools are fooled."

Perhaps there is an equivalent in Spanish, or something along those lines.

Go to: 'I faked religion to find a school'

I don't think you did anything wrong. If anything, it's the selection process that's bullshit.

But I supposed we are used to seeing religion trying to take everything to themselves, such as Christmas and Easter.
