I'm getting a bit tired of advertisements posing as news items at some of my favorite sites.

While Prof. Dawkins may have done it all before, perhaps a gazillion times, and while he may feel beleaguered by an avalanche of fans and well-wishers, if it's at all possible, I fully intend to introduce myself and offer my hand in greeting when he comes to Melbourne next April for the Global Atheist Convention 2012, although I will do so sympathetically. :)

For me it will be the first and probably only time that I will be able to participate in such an event, and I mean to thoroughly enjoy myself doing so.

So, Prof. Dawkins, let this be a timely warning! If it's all getting to be too much, then perhaps you should stop publishing such brilliant books, or retire, or something...

Sincerely,

Moochie

Frankly, I find it difficult not to laugh when confronted by an erudite, sophisticated adult who professes belief in a deity. Coming from a child such imaginings are acceptable; coming from an educated, urbane adult, well, it calls into question their sanity, to say the least. For such a person to then take umbrage at my 'lack of respect' for their belief just further entrenches their position in my landscape of comic possibilities.

Wow, I really hope that "god bless America" crap was meant to be sarcastic, otherwise she is completely clueless, incoherent and irrelevant.

Totally agree. That bit at the end just about nullified what had gone before. Surely she realises that it is religion and what people do with it that is at the heart of much of the world's travails. In the other video, shown on Al Jazeera, she actually asserts that she's of no religion, but is a secular woman. Let's hope she drops that god bit from future speeches before Western audiences, particularly American ones.
