Go to: UK government bans creationist schools

By the way, after signing I read that

"if it gets at least 100,000 signatures, it will be eligible for debate in the House of Commons".

So although the current success is great, if the signatures can be quintupled from their current number, the chance will greatly increase that all schools and not just "free schools" can be included in legislation. Sign it if you haven't already!

For those who haven't looked at the site, signatures can still be added until August, and if you're a British citizen outside the UK you can still sign it. I propose 'sharing' the link with people; we might be able to double the signature numbers :)

Congratulations, and a huge thank you to all involved in the campaign.

Our candle burns no longer in the darkness of the night, And yet we can still see our way and do not want for light,

A sentence that says it all. Beautiful.

Still can't comprehend that there'll be no more Hitch Atlantic book review, Vanity Fair essay or Slate post, not to mention anything else.

It's interesting that he passed away on the same day as when the Iraq war was ended formally. I'm surprised it's not been mentioned much, although I've only just noticed. I like to think he'd like that, in some way.

Oh, Hitch, if god is not great, it's so wonderful that you were. I can't imagine what debate and current affairs would be like if he hadn't been investigating with us over the last four decades.
