Go to: "In Your Image" (sex columnist Dan Savage's response to a reader's letter)

Dan has written a hateful article! Savage to the core. No insight no science no education no critical thinking, only fundamental intolerance of a reasonable persons position. Why would RD post such a hostile diatribe? What is becoming of their audience? It would be fine to assist in the furthering of a controversial position, but that was just crude gutter talk.

Evolution continues because it can not do otherwise. We are also behaving in ways which can be said to transcend it as noted by Tanweer.

Yours is a very important point. Rather than to defend the christian position which may be half right, (dont attack people) there are so many of them, and so many good people among them, that we need their rigorous inclusion in helping the young. I dont really think we need to call their position lies.

opposablethumbs comment 18 The american christians may be wrong about their position. If they are concerned for the young, they should drop the sex discussion taboos and assist the young on their transition through puberty toward sexual maturity. We hear of too many young people struggling alone. In my opinion, it is not however, another job for the already overburdened schools.

Quetzalcoatl Yes, I understand your point. Homosexual behavior however is learned. Just as heterosexual behavior is learned. Not all love relationships between young people are or should include the learning of sexual behavior.

In africa, the gross out factor remains to be dealt with. The aphorism; "..what goes on behind closed doors is none of your business" has not caught on. Maybe they have fewer doors. And they may be a more open and honest people as well.

American christians of all stripes do not want homosexuals to be attacked or killed. They want them to choose other behaviors and to stop advocating their learned behavior favorably to children. American christians agree that men and women naturally do and should love other men and women. Africans are not making their positions on homosexual behavior based on metaphors of christian dogma. Theirs is clearly a position against what they consider gross out physical behavior, not book learning or personal love relationships or evangelical speeches by visiting americans.
