Go to: UK government bans creationist schools

What about the state funded faith schools that are already out there? I'm sure that though they may teach evolution they will continue to push creationist ideas.

Then there is the Islamic faith schools, such as the state funded one in the article below:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2038072/First-free-school-Muslims-gets-ahead-amid-fears-segregated-schooling.html

..which I'm fairly sure will not take evolutionary biology seriously at all and will adhere to the creation teachings of the Koran. Richard found this for himself during the filming of Faith School Menace.

Still, though the teaching of creation myths over science is worrying, sadly, there is the bigger problem that these faith schools present, that of propagating segregation.

Well I certainly hope Salman Rushdie will have security with him if he is still determined to make an appearance at the festival.

Go to: The Stanford Prison Experiment: History’s Most Controversial Psychology Study Turns 40

Das Experiment is a film based on the SPE I haven't unfortunately seen this (I find the original is invariably better when it comes to films), though I have seen the American remake, The Experiment. It is not a fantastic film but one interesting thing I noticed when watching was a religious point regarding the two main protagonists; the most level headed of the experiment group was positively non religious whilst the character who carried the most atrocious acts was very much a bible man. This may have no relevance to the original experiment I don't know but it did make me smile when watching the film. :)

HughCaldwell is either in denial or very PC & naive.

Go to: Conversation with David Attenborough: a missed opportunity

CharlieOw's Avatar Jump to comment 96 by CharlieOw

I have only just come by this; it is a shame that the journalist interrupted the conversation with irrelevant questions. Though I did enjoy the audio recording, it sounded like both were thoroughly enjoying the conversation (apart from the interruptions which must have been edited out).

As for the sniping comments on the Guardian's CIF well I think it just exposes the commenter's own prejudice and ignorance and I hope that Richard doesn't take it seriously, sadly even a reasonably good paper such as the Guardian has it's share of idiotic readers.

Were future opportunities to arise for similar conversations with Richard and any help was required I would be happy to volunteer my services for the photography and recording. :)
