Go to: Scientists Uncover Transfer of Genetic Material Between Blood-Sucking Insect and Mammals

If this article constitutes a reasonable facsimile of the true descent of mammals, is it being suggested that major divergences, such as the break between primates which produced homo sapiens may have been caused by the bite of a blood sucking insect or arachnid?

My wife and I are among the very few who have 'come out' on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. While I am sure that there are many others, I have only met one who was willing to baldly state that he too was a Dawkins type agnostic. We have tried attending meetings of college groups in Halifax, but they really do not provide a proper community group for us seniors. Any words of advice as to how to get in touch with other elderly people with similar proclivities would be most welcome. Incidentally, there are no buses in the immediate area to post signs on, even if we could afford to.
