Good to see a constructive rather than destructive discussion here for a change. We need more good news stories evan though bad news and controversy unfortunately sells better.

Hi, sorry to be a bit off topic but didn't know a discussion that would fit my enquiry. Can someone tell me how to purchase Jim Lassiter's "Secular Truth and Morality" on Amazon etc.. because I can't seem to get a response from his website and it seems to say you can only by via 'ebook' or something which I don't know how to do or don't have the tools/software for.

Thanks M.Sorby

Go to: Gingrich Says He’s Scrapping Climate Change Chapter From Upcoming Book

Just started Bill McGibben's book "Eaarth", was depressing the power of the addiction to fossil fuels society has and extent of infrastructure that would be needed to be changed to renewables to turn things around. I hope it's not as bleak as he says otherwise welcome everyone to the the environmental and economic timebomb whereever and to what extent it next hits. Is it my imagination or do people here seem resigned, or confident in their ability to 'weather' whatever storm comes their way.

Can someone perhaps point me to where Richard.D is particularly concerned with climate forecasts if I've missed it. Also has he made comments re: widening income disparities of our Capitalist economic system that I could read?

A bit off topic but thanks to someone at this site for enlightening me about Genie Scott or perhaps adding to my disillusionment, didn't know she was so 'accomodationist'. Does anyone know if Jim Lassiter is in the same boat? At least her book did reassuringly details the mainly failed legal challenges of the Creationist movement evan from Judges who are sympathetic to Bible crowd

Haven't had a look at the video you mentioned yet but religion just can't get enough of end of worldism, it's what they're largely based on isn't it? Is it me or is climate change less dire to people at the moment round here? (Been away from the site for a while, forgot my password because of all the other sites you've got to have passwords etc..) Is Capitalism also pretty innocent re: inequality and climate at the moment?

Go to: War, Famine, Pestilence...Richard Dawkins - What Sort Of God...

I'm surprised more folks don't mention the money god more often here as it's got to be one of the biggest reasons for Religion continuing to gain a foothold. Apart from childhood indoctrination the sheer rottenness of the economic system is enough to make vast numbers of workers try to forget about reality by casting their minds towards a "sky fairy". The more people can work in conditions of dignity the less they'll need the opium of religion, and if Atheistic organisations can help bring this about, Atheism itself will become more popular
