Rephrasing the same old tired and thoroughly refuted arguments over and over again doesn't count as "new apologetics".

The only way there can ever be "new apologetics" is if the Crapolic Church invents some "new doctrine".

So they passed a law that makes it illegal to tell lies to children? I don't see the problem.

I think to some degree it's a matter of taste and cultural upbringing. I also think Pat's brand of sarcastic, dry humor plays better over here in the States to an American audience. Primarily because we are a lot angrier with the damage being done by religion to our country, and because comedic cynicism is a national pastime here. The only thing we like better than a cynical and sarcastic comedian is a cynical and sarcastic British comedian. It must be the accent.

I really don't quite grok what this guy is babbling about.

I do, however, find his comments about what Martian anthropologists would think of us amusing in light of the fact that I am currently re-reading Heinlein's Stranger In A Strange Land. I doubt many aliens would be concerned with, or capable of understanding in any meaningful way, our varied and trivial social practices.

A nice analysis of the politics of sexuality in fictional totalitarian regimes. It also applies nicely to religions, particularly Abrahamic religions:
