So sad, so ignorant, so dangerous - I hope the atheists in the US actively go after this idiot with every public humiliation they can muster - atheists, scientists everywhere should pull out all the stops to educate these idiots, rediculous that in the US being atheist seems worse than being gay, they did good by coming out, atheists need to be brave and do the same - strength in numbers - this has to stop one day I hope. Grrrr!

I share the majority view that this shows how dangerous and stupid faith can be. Question is, how can we combat this? OK you can sign up to various secular, humanist organisations etc. but it's SO frustrating that we can't just re-educate everyone on Earth! As a liberal thinker I don't particularly like being angry, but this kind of thing makes me so angry and I would call upon programme makers and broadcasters everywhere to really start to push for a strong response to the problem by allowing rationalists to spread the real good news, i.e. that science strives to explain things now and we don't need the shamans any more! Go Scott, keep making your films, you are a hero and we need more like you.

Well said. In light of the latest attempt of a cleric to interfere in human rights (Cardinal O'Brien's opposition to gay marriage) - will someone please point out that marriage of some form or another has been around practically as long as humanity, and the various churches do not have copyright on marriage! What I found particularly offensive was the suggestion that allowing gay marriage would shame the UK around the world - not as much, I would suggest, as the bigoted attitudes of some countries (e.g. Uganda) shames them, or indeed as many examples of intollerance shames organised religion itself. Myself and my wife are straight, by the way.
