Is there a prediction made by ID supporters, based on their theory, that has been found to be true?

In a word, NO!

hemidemisemigod:

I recently watched the debate between Sam Harris and William Lane Craig, which was on the origins of moral values. Both parties agreed that morals are objective but Sam Harris struggled to explain how such an objective set of laws could have evolved.

I don't think he struggled - we will gain more insight into the origins of morality as our knowledge of our evolutionary past improves. As a rationalist, Harris is not going to state we have all the answers while our knowledge is still improving.

On the other hand, WLC's answer was to postively state that God is the reason for our morals. Is that a more convincing answer than Harris gave? I don't think so, and in fact, Harris' arguments about how morality originated via natural means will always trump an answer that says a magic man in the sky did it.

As far as I'm concerned, it is Dr. Craig who struggles, because saying "God did it" is not an answer at all.

All the references to Christians once having easy access to children brings up some rather disturbing imagery.

Europeans are in the habit of making fun of American evangelicals as backward religious knuckle-draggers who believe that Adam and Eve actually ate apples with a talking snake.

Erm, that's what the Bible says, isn't is?

But forget about the talking snakes, etc. How many U.S. evangelicals think the world is only 6,000 to 10,000 years old?

The answer is that most (if not all) think this, and so I (as a European and an INTELLIGENT person) will continue "in the habit" of regarding them as "knuckle draggers."

Regards.
