Blockquote> Frickin. Awesome. Post. This is a great premise to turn into a book!!

@Rob S: Thanks, Rob. Very kind. Neither the time nor the skill to write a book but glad you enjoyed the post. BTW, another, embarrassingly overlooked leadership quality at which God fails miserably is visibility. Even if we take all the nonsense at face value, everyone will agree that he's been entirely absent for at least a couple thousand years.

Seems like a rather desperate measure to pass a resolution reaffirming a cornerstone of their belief. The lunacy of it is akin to secularists passing a resolution reaffirming our belief that murder is a bad thing. When I see stories like this, the depravity continues to amaze me, yet at the same time provides hope that these belief systems will eventually collapse under the weight of their lunacy.

Go to: Look out! Camping's striking again.

I wonder...if our objective is to get people to somehow overcome their blind faith in this silliness and switch back on the part of their brain that religion has managed to shut down, which would be more effective: 1) Seeking legal restitution for Camping's victims, or 2) Working with some of his victims to turn them into advocates for rational thought? They are not mutually exclusive choices, but it's a question of where to focus effort. Or perhaps his followers are too far gone and the best we can do is publicize as much as possible the nonsense in the hopes of helping others think for themselves...

Sorry for the ramble...just thinking out loud about how this episode can be used productively...

Jay G, I couldn't agree more. What I experienced hardly compares to the large scale persecutions numerous groups have suffered in the name of religion, the Inquisition being but one. If I felt as "violated" as I did as a result if such a comparably trivial experience, I can't even begin to imagine what it was like back then...
