Thanks for re-posting these words during this difficult period. These sad circumstances seem to breathe new meaning into that speech. I usually don't post comments, but if fans like myself do not post, I fear that ignorant and crass may appear to be a majority.

Go to: Christopher Hitchens obituaries

It is a bit difficult for me to hear people make their own heavy-handed judgements about the life of Christopher Hitchens in their remarks since his death. At first, my impulse was to explain to these people that forming your own opinion, in spite of popular opinion was something to be praised, not censored. However, as soon as I began to feel offended by those who casually wrote off the importance of the life of the late-great Christopher Hitchens, I received an internal Hitchslap. Hitchens had the courage to speak his opinions, without blinking, in the face of the mourners of Mother Theresa and Jerry Falwell. Thus, I do not believe that I have the right to feel injured by the abrupt, ignorant condemnation of Hitch after his death. I can only regret that, like always, how easily humans write off people and ideas that do not conform with their own.

                                                             To the legacy of Hitch!

A fair assessment of a talented man! However, his chances of seeing another birthday would probably be higher if he refused your drink offer.
