Go to: India: Kerala churches reward big families

This is pathetic in a number of ways, given that 200$, even in a developing country such as India, is a tiny fraction of the cost needed to raise even just the 5th child. And that's not even mentioning the horribly unsustainable repercussions of having too many children. Especially if it turns out that a family isn't capable of raising all of those children.

Has religion always been a sort of animal, existing for itself and not for the people that actually keep it alive? This would seem to suggest so. It's yet another case of it preying on the ignorant and innocent.

Go to: Atheists are as big a threat as climate change deniers

‘At a time when secularism is a threat to the salvation of millions, believers should get together, find what we have in common, and sell that,’ he said.

Wait a second. Don't Christians believe that their own religion is the only way to get salvation? So technically, Judaism or Islam or any other religion should be just as bad, if not worse, than "secularism" (which if I have the definition right, is not incompatible with religion)? If the author will deny this, then he has admitted that other religions might be equally valid as his own and has fundamentally undermined his stantpoint as a Christian. And if he will admit this, then he just invalidated the thesis of his article!

While I have no doubts as to the informativeness and exellence of the content of his new book, I personally think the Prof should have written this under a pen name, as having his name emblazoned on the cover will likely ensure it does not get to anyone who might really benefit from reading it. Definitely, it shall be much enjoyed and appreciated by the converted audience and their offspring, but had it been written by Mr. Bob Johnson, the book could have ended up in the hands of a kid of Christian/Muslim/Zoroastrian parents, and might give them some food for thought quite different from what they had been hearing previously.

That might be a bit too underhanded and sneaky, though. After all, atheists are never happy to find religious motivations concealed in seemingly innocuous places, so it seems hypocritical to do the same to them.
