Go to: Living with a theist?

If you are atheist and live with a theist and you were honest about your atheism before you were married...

then...

IF your spouse doesn't accept your atheism then you don't have true love, where you accept each other for who and what you are.

I am atheist, my wife is theist. We accept each other''s positions and don't press each other into a belief system we aren't comfortable with. That is love.

Here a simple equation:

Delhi ruling == SOPA, where

Delhi ruling = effort to ban content based on perceived religious offence

SOPA = effort to ban content based on perceived copyright infringement

In each case, the parties seeking the censorship are following their god - either spiritual or financial.

It comes as no surprise to me that as the internet matures and has become the dominant vehicle for information dissemination that power-grabbing parties will seek to control it.

Thank you everyone for filling out the flesh of the story...it was very late when I posted my original comments and they were a bit thin on detail.

Wow...what a twisted piece of reasoning!

"Yes, your afterlife is hellacious, but it is hellacious because it is what you want and I love you so much I will let you have it."

If we applied this same principle to parenting, our children would be taken away by the state.

"Yes, you really want to put you hand in that fire and because that is want you want I will let you do it because I love you so much"

The theists will say anything to maintain the power and control.

EDIT: Just looked up this fool and he is one of the Directors of the American Family Association, which Wikipedia describes as:

In November 2010, the SPLC changed their listing of the AFA from a group that used hate speech to the more serious one of being designated a hate group. The SPLC's Mark Potok said that the AFA's "propagation of known falsehoods and demonizing propaganda" was the basis for the change. Fischer's anti-gay comments were given as an example by SPLC in support of the hate group designation.
