Go to: Secular wedding ceremonies - Canada

My wife and I were married in a secular ceremony 15 years ago in Southern Alberta, one of the many bible belts in Canada. Twelve years ago we moved to a small village in British Columbia, of which at least 30 per cent of the population are non-believers in varying degrees of non-belief. My wife is considering a career change and taking a correspondence course to qualify as a secular celebrant for weddings and funerals. I would be very happy to answer any questions you may have.

@ Comment 16 by Irate Atheist:

In my hometown in Yorkshire in the 30s there was a notice outside a Pentecostal place of worship which announced " JESUS SAVES". Underneath, someone had written,"BUT MOSES INVESTS".

I am proud to be a British Columbian also - my wife and I retired here from Alberta 12 years ago and have never regretted moving for one single nano-second.

Two of my five sons are married to catholics and have been, quite happily, for several decades. My grandchildren from those two marriages are all in their 20s and 30s and are firmly established in various stages of non-belief, as are the rest of my family. I count myself among the most fortunate of men. I have a large family, including three great grandchildren and only two christians.

I'm about as far west in terms of time zones as one can get, but I recall a comment by Quetzalcoatl near the beginning which indicates that J and M appear to be drinking Guinness. I beg to differ - I drink a lot of Guinness and when the glass is as full as these two glasses are Guinness still has a beige -coloured head - just saying could be Coke or Pepsi ! But it would be nice if it were Guinness.
